Marie Ayres

BSc (Hons) MMCA Chiropractor, Pain and Movement Specialist

About Me

I am a registered musculoskeletal healthcare professional dedicated to helping people understand their unique pain experiences to overcome painful, persistent problems and move forward into a life of greater comfort and ease.

I’ve been a registered McTimoney Chiropractor since 2008. Through my own experience of chronic pelvic pain and after several years of seeing people with persistent pain in clinical practice, I developed a special interest in chronic pain.

Since then, I have continued to build my knowledge of psychology and applied neuroscience, and develop advanced pain management and rehabilitation skills. I now work as a psychologically informed musculoskeletal and movement practitioner. I have a person-centered approach to pain and recovery, which is constantly updated in response to the changing evidence base.

McTimoney Chiropractic is a unique full-body manual therapy technique that uses gentle joint mobilisation to enhance the body’s natural pain relief and healing mechanisms. Very little force is applied and it is a comfortable and pleasant treatment to receive. It’s helpful for people with back pain, neck pain and other painful muscular and joint-related conditions.

Movement coaching draws upon the principles of Hanna Somatics, the Feldenkrais Method, and motor imagery. It focuses on gentle movements with awareness to resolve stress and muscular tension, which brings more comfort and an easier range of pain-free motion.

Using a combined approach, with individual coaching and pain education, I aim to empower you with the know-how, skills and confidence to become the capable driver in your recovery from pain and injury.

I am registered with the General Chiropractic Council and a member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association.
