Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MBACP)

About Me

I am a registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with BACP.

People come into therapy for many reasons. It may be because of things that happened many years ago that are still affecting your quality of life today, or it may be something recent. It could be a vague feeling of life slipping you by, through to a trauma that has left you feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope, or countless other circumstances that are as unique and individual as you.

I believe the therapeutic experience and the relationship between client and counsellor is unique. The focus is solely on you, without agenda or intention beyond hearing and helping you. Trust and understanding are therefore essential to balance and allow for the vulnerability and depth that often comes from our time together. Working together, you are free to bring your whole self.

We will work on understanding the situation that you need support with and look at how it is impacting your life. We can identify patterns and themes, and discover how to change them. Talking therapy can improve our self-awareness and insight, and in doing so, help foster a better relationship with self and others. While we can’t change the past, we can change how we relate to it.

My own journey involved having to unlearn strategies and ways of coping that worked at an earlier stage in my life, but no longer served me as I grew. They had become hindrances rather than helping me towards the important things in life: a feeling of contentment, joy, connection, and being able to meet challenges in a more healthy and hopeful way.

While therapy is not a cure for everything, and everyone’s experience will be different, it can provide significant help for many of us. At its best, it can be transformational and a valuable part of moving towards greater self-compassion and acceptance, the foundation of learning to get our needs met more healthily, stronger relationships, and moving through this life more balanced and with a greater sense of freedom and self-trust.

My work particularly focuses on working with anxiety, low mood, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, bereavement, HIV/AIDS, relationships, self-esteem or stress.

Fifty-minute sessions are £70 both online and in-person.
