MEGAN MCCLYMONT

Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and Therapist (BACP)

About Me

Hello, I’m Megan, a qualified integrative therapist.

Throughout our lives, we gain beliefs about who we are, perhaps how we ‘should’ be. Sometimes we can find ourselves repeating the same patterns, unsure of where they come from, not knowing how to free ourselves. We will work together to help you gain curiosity, awareness and compassion for these patterns and behaviours and find what is authentically right for you.

Wherever you’re at in your life, I offer a safe space that is gentle, non-judgemental and compassionate to support you to go deeper with your feelings and find self-acceptance. It is my firm belief that having a time each week just for you to connect with yourself and how you’re truly feeling is invaluable. I know the value of listening empathically to all of another’s experience and I believe this is an essential part of the therapy process. I offer a space in which you can be heard in this way.

My approach is integrative which means I use different skills and modalities. Every client is unique so I will cater accordingly to what works for you. I work relationally which means the most important part of the therapy is the relationship between us. A strong relationship between therapist and client is vital to achieve positive change. I work in a creative, collaborative and intuitive way, which involves attuning to what you bring to the therapy process.

I trained at CPPD London and hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling. I am a BACP registered therapist and abide by their ethical framework.

Training and Experience

I have experience working with clients experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, personality disorders, parenting difficulties, eating disorders, interpersonal issues and emotional regulation difficulties.

I provide both short and long-term psychological treatments based on psychodynamic and integrative models of intervention. I also offer short-term consultations for specific psychological and interpersonal problems, such as professional/academic orientation, changes in relationships, adjustment and stress-related issues. I provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for clients who have difficulties related to trauma. I also offer parent-infant psychotherapy for parents who would like to improve their relationship with their children. In addition, I have been running for numerous years Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) programs for clients with emotional regulation and interpersonal difficulties.

Sessions

I offer a 15-minute no cost, no obligation telephone consultation to discuss what you’re looking for from therapy and to see whether we would be the right fit. In this time, it’s a chance for you to ask any questions you may want to know about the process. If we decide to go ahead, we will organise a weekly 50-minute session.

My fee is £70 per session.
