About me
I am a psychotherapist working with young people aged 16–25 and adults, in person in Islington, North London, and online. I work in an integrative and holistic way, combining psychodynamic psychotherapy, somatic (body-based) approaches and mindfulness.
My journey into psychotherapy began over 15 years ago with a fascination for Jungian psychology and the inner world. This interest led me to complete a PhD in Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies, publish my first book, and then eventually become a Doctor of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
For many years, I worked primarily psychoanalytically, both in NHS services and other clinical settings. I continue to value this way of understanding people deeply. But over time, I became increasingly curious about something I encountered in my work: we can understand ourselves very well and still struggle to change how we feel.
Perhaps you recognise this. You may have been in therapy before, gained important insights into your childhood or relationships, but found yourself repeating the same patterns. Or perhaps you have explored meditation, yoga, breathwork or workshops and experienced moments of real connection or emotional release, only to find that something was missing when you returned to everyday life.
I became interested in what might help bridge this gap between understanding and experiencing change. This curiosity led me towards the body, the nervous system, mindfulness, meditation and experiential ways of working.
Today, I bring these different approaches together.
How I work
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to psychotherapy. I adapt my way of working to the person I am sitting with, rather than expecting them to fit into a particular technique.
My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy, but also draws on somatic (body-based) work, mindfulness, active imagination and parts work (IFS).
Sometimes our work may focus on talking, exploring your experiences, relationships and patterns that have developed over time. At other times, we might pay attention to what is happening in your body, your emotions or your imagination.
We may explore different parts of yourself, including those that have learned to protect you, perhaps in ways that were once necessary but no longer serve you. We can gently approach experiences that may have been difficult to process, helping you make sense of them and develop a different relationship with yourself.
For me, therapy is not only about understanding why we are the way we are. It can also be about experiencing ourselves differently.
