About Me

I work as an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist and aim to offer an inclusive and relational therapeutic space that fosters curiosity and compassion. This includes striving to understand, respect and validate each person’s unique experience.

My approach is grounded in attachment theory and the understanding that our earliest relationships with our caregivers can shape how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. Our sense of self can also be profoundly impacted by life events, and our experience of the wider cultural context within which we grow-up and live.

Sometimes, the early strategies we adopt to keep us safe and connected, both in our relationships and our external world, can be less helpful later in life, and no longer serve us as they once did. My work draws on the psychoanalytic principle that there may be thoughts, feelings and experiences that remain outside of our awareness. By bringing these more into awareness, they can be better understood, and this in turn can help shift unhelpful thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour.

My belief is that by building a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can create a safe and secure base from which we can explore together. The recognition and validation of trauma, and of intersectionality, are integral to my work as an attachment-based psychotherapist. I am committed to providing an inclusive, gender-affirming, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice.

Some of the areas I work with in my practice include: anxiety / bereavement / depression / disordered eating / dissociation / emotional-regulation / gender / grief / health conditions / identity & intersectionality / isolation / life- transitions / loss / mentalizing / panic attacks / power dynamics / relationship difficulties / self-esteem / sexuality / trauma / workplace challenges
